BEST PRACTICE 2025-26

Library Orientation Program (June/July/August 2025)  

A special session was organized to introduce the library to the B.Com. first-year students. Separate lectures were conducted by visiting each class.

In this session, detailed guidance was given about various library services and facilities such as book classification, reference books, journals, e-resources, use of the reading room, and how to access online services. Information about the “Best Book Reader & Best Book Review” activity was also provided. In addition, students were informed about the important programs celebrated every year by the library – Dr. S. R. Ranganathan Jayanti, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Jayanti, and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti.

Through this initiative, students were encouraged to make maximum use of the library in their academic and research activities.

Father of Indian Library Science, Dr.S.R. Ranganathan Birth Anniversary 2025 

Dr. S. R. Ranganathan Jayanti – Poetry Recital

On the occasion of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan Jayanti, the Library Department of Dayanand College of Commerce, Latur, organized a Poetry Recital (Kavya Maifal) on 12 August 2025.

Renowned poet and ghazal writer Prof. Dr. Mukund Rajpankhe inspired the audience with his famous ghazals and poems, emphasizing the importance of reading, literature, and lifelong learning. The program was presided over by Principal Dr. Prashant Mannikar, in the presence of distinguished faculty members.

The event received enthusiastic participation from teachers, staff, and students, making the celebration memorable.

Books Exhibition

To create awareness among students about the rich collection of the library, a Book Exhibition was organized by the Library Department of Dayanand College of Commerce, Latur, on the occasion of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan Jayanti. The exhibition was inaugurated at the hands of Prof. Dr. Mukund Rajpankhe, renowned poet, ghazal writer, and literary critic.

A total of 640 selected books from various disciplines were displayed for the benefit of students and faculty members. The exhibition remained open on 12 & 13 August 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and received an overwhelming response from students, teachers, and staff.

Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam Birth Anniversary 2025
Reading Inspiration Day (Wachan Prerana Din) 


   

​On the occasion of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Jayanti, the Library Department of Dayanand College of Commerce, Latur, organized “Reading Inspiration Day” and a Short Film Competition – ‘Chala Granthanchya Banat’ on 14 October 2025.
Chief Guest Dr. Ankushkumar Chavhan inspired students with his talk “From Reading to Enrichment,” emphasizing that “Libraries are the modern temples of knowledge.”
In the short film competition, Ms. Gautami Gore won the First Prize, followed by Ms. Harshada Bandgar and Ms. Varad Munde, while Ms. Soni Pundle received a Consolation Prize.
A total of 51 short videos based on book reviews were received in the competition, reflecting the students’ keen interest in reading and creative expression.
The event was presided over by Principal Dr. Prashant Mannikar and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.

BEST BOOK REVIEW COMPETITION  2025-26

Best Book Reader Competition – Report

The Library Department of Dayanand College of Commerce, Latur organized the “Best Book Reader Competition” during the academic year 2025–26 with the objective of developing reading culture, promoting non-curricular reading habits, and expanding the knowledge horizons of students. The competition was approved in the Library Advisory Committee meeting held on 27 June 2025.

A total of 164 students enthusiastically participated in the competition and collectively read 548 books by submitting their reading remarks to the library. To encourage students towards extensive reading, cash prizes, trophies, and certificates were awarded to the winners.

Ms. Shreya Manohar Shelke (M.Com. I) secured the First Prize by reading 68 books. Mr. Premraj Satyanarayan Jaju (B.Com. III) secured the Second Prize by reading 40 books. Ms. Gautami Pandurang Gore (B.Com. III) and Ms. Aishwarya Rajendra Kasar (M.Com. II) jointly secured the Third Prize by reading 31 books each. Ms. Shweta Sundarrao Jadhav (B.Com. III) received the Consolation Prize.

The prizes and certificates were distributed during the Annual Gathering at the auspicious hands of mimicry artist Shivputra Swami. The competition received an overwhelming response from students and played a significant role in strengthening reading habits and enhancing library usage among students.

BEST BOOK REVIEW COMPETITION  2025-26

Best Book Review Competition – Report

The Library Department of Dayanand College of Commerce, Latur organized the “Best Book Review Competition” during the academic year 2025–26 with the objective of developing reading culture, enhancing writing skills, and encouraging critical and analytical thinking among students. The competition was approved in the Library Advisory Committee meeting held on 27 June 2025.

A total of 139 students enthusiastically participated in the competition and submitted 312 book reviews to the library. Students prepared detailed reviews on various books after intensive reading and analysis. Cash prizes, trophies, and certificates were awarded to encourage students towards quality reading and review writing.

Ms. Pankaja Pandurang Kapse (M.Com. I) secured the First Prize in the competition. Ms. Dhanshri Yuvraj Pore (B.Com. II) and Ms. Laxmi Baswaraj Kode (B.Com. I) jointly secured the Second Prize. Ms. Chaitali Kumar Chikate (B.C.A. I) and Ms. Manisha Gajanan Pawar (B.Com. I) jointly secured the Third Prize.

The prizes and certificates were distributed during the Annual Gathering at the auspicious hands of mimicry artist Shivputra Swami. The competition received an overwhelming response from students and significantly contributed to the development of reading and writing culture in the college.

Programme Report

The Library Department of Dayanand College of Commerce, Latur organized the activity “One Goal – 18 Hours Study” on 12 April 2026 on the occasion of the 135th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and International Knowledge Day. A total of 151 students participated in the programme and studied continuously in the library from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. (18 hours). This initiative, conducted continuously for the last 10 years, aims to develop study habits, self-discipline, concentration, and time management skills among students.

The programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Jayprakash Dargad and Guest Speaker Dr. R. S. Parve in the presence of Principal Mr. Prashant Mannikar. Dr. R. S. Parve guided students on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s water conservation policies and shared several lesser-known facts about his work as Labour Minister.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Vitthal Jadhav (Librarian). The entire expenditure of the activity was borne by the Dayanand Education Society. The programme received an enthusiastic response from students and proved to be highly inspiring and beneficial.
